Hi there - welcome to the site. Please could you say a bit more about the new allotment site? i.e. who it is run by, what the charges are and what is provided, along with anything else that might be useful?

Great to hear of new sites being opened.

This is absolutely a non-profit site.
Following an article in our local paper highlighting the huge ongoing waiting list for council allotment plots and their failure to meet the demand a local land owner contacted the paper to offer the lease of some land.  Those on the councils waiting list were then contacted to ask if they would be interested in a new site and would they be interested in forming a Committee to pull the project together.  This is how I personally became involved along with 9 others.  So far we have secured a lease, moved the field gates to provide safe access and erected rabbitproof fencing and we are now in a position that we have 30 plots ready for use!!  we also have 'Greening Petersfield' renting plots to create a community Orchard.

So to sum up we are a non-profit group of local residents all pulling together to get this great commuinity project up and running!  now we need to make sure that local residents know about us and that we have allotment plots availablle if they just email us.  newpetersfieldallotments@gmail.com
