Sticcoli and Cut and Come Again cabbeg

 Has anyone grown the Sticcoli. I have a few plants waiting to go out, quite big healthy plants except one.. it is growing and looks very green and healthy but the leaves are crinkled unlike the others..any ideas?

The Cut and Come Again is posing  a problem too. It was sown at the same time as all the other brassicas in a cell and then transplanted to 8 inch tall 4 inch pots waiting for a chance to get them out. Everything else is growing great but these plants seem spindly and weak.. any ideas?

I'll have to look this one up later - not heard of it. Sounds like something Italian and exotic...either that or something you catch and would rather not have.  ;D

Just looked it Jeannine & it says it's a replacement for tendergreen broccoli.

And another quick look-up by me reveals: "A hybrid of Broccoli & Chinese Kale produces green broccoli spears on edible stems, which taste similar to Asparagus. Crops from June"

I haven't grown sticcoli but I suspect it would be very similar to raab, which is quick growing 'cut and come again' crop. Raab doesn't grow strong stems and I suspect that is reason for its capability to produce 'quickly'.
As being wrinkly... :-\....spot of virus perharps?..it only takes 1 aphid to transfer it.

Ihave no aphids, and they are still in my plant room under lights, very isolated.

They are very determind, lively little bug***s.

Absolutely certain. No doubt at all. This is a third floor apartment and have not seen 1 on antythings even woth the magifier which was my first thiugh

Perharps it just carries some sort of 'fault' in its DNA that makes it wrinkly.. :-\
If it would be envinronmental problem you would have more than just one plant affected.

We actually manged to do some planting today.. no rain but I had a few too many brassicas so some went on the share table..including a wrinkly Sticcola.

I guess I have your share of rain today... saves watering although some of my plot neighbours haven't yet worked out they don't need their hosepipes ever day of the year.

I had thought that their need to wear wellington boots might have given them a clue.  ::)
