Being forced to watch the footie >:(
Can someone tell me why Wayne Rooney won't sing the national anthem ?
I thought he was playing for England ?
Personally I'd leave him on the bench !

I don't follow international football but I do know that Wayne Rooney would not have been on the pitch today due to a ban.

At least 3 of the french players did not join in their national anthem, and they are meant to be very nationalistic, I doubt the french press are making a huge deal of it.

That is what I thought,Truthfully I've never paid much attention to the words but believed it to be our countrys song.(note to self pay closer attention ::))
Perhaps we should have a different anthem,that doesn't mention the queen although I've no doubt that would offend many.I didn't think my frivolous post would attract so many opinions  :)

It's not actually sung for the Queen as such it's really for the country and the Queen also has to stand and show respect for it.

it's always been a country thing for me,perhaps I should have paid greater attention to the  words
But it's  the only anthem we are offered so it; sung in honour of our country not just the queen ?
