Garlic seed heads / scapes are delicious to eat

I de-scaped some of my garlic plants yesterday that have put up a flower stalks and cooked them last night for 8 minutes and added to white sauce... They were delicious!!

Absolutely... next year I plan on saving back the small inner cloves from my seed garlic (and maybe some self-saved too) and planting in spring purely to get a mixture of scapes adn single-clove green garlic... had some for the first time in a veg stroganoff and it was lovely

Tried chewing my elephant garlic scapes recently - what a strong fiery flavour compared to the milder cloves! I let them flower last year because they are so stunning, but this year I am cutting them off to see if cloves are even bigger.

I can imagine they could be very strong flavour..
