Eating comb honey: do you eat the wax too?

Beekeepers and honey enthusiasts - how do you eat honey from a comb?

I tried some once and found you ended up with a piece of chewy wax left in your mouth, which wasn't very pleasant. Is this how it should be (or bee!)?

I've seen references that some folk say that if you cut a chunk and put on warm toast it will melt (wax, honey & all) and you eat it like that. Others say if you do this the wax won't melt.

Or do you just let the honey run out of the comb and then discard the comb?

Enlighten me please!

I don't usually eat comb honey..though the taste is better when eaten fresh from it.
Like you...I'm not too keen with wax and and its like chewing gum in my mouth too..yes..that is how it should 'bee'.
Some just spit the wax out once the honey is swallowed...and others swallow the lot. No harm for you body if you do.
As for putting it on the toast.. :-\..my toast don't stay that long hot that it would keep chunk of wax soft for long.. :-\
When I've used comb honey...I just press it flat with spoon or fork to break the cell in comb and let the honey run out. I'm not bothered with small little bits of wax..and the main broken down chunk, when all the liquid around it is used up I just pop in my mouth and 'suck' the remains of the honey off.
Without breaking some of the cells..they will hold onto the honey and it won't run out. That's the 'magic' of the hexagonal structure... ;)
