My Avast keeps popping up to tell me to update but whenever I try it just says "cannot connect to server".  I have Malaway and Commodo installed as well.  How do I disable them.  Thanks for any advice in advance.  May

Sounds like a firewall issue to me.  I have never heard of Malaway and by Commodo I presume you mean their personal Firewall...

Try this (found on another forum)

Right click on the tray icon, select the service, then select disable. Alternatively, open the summary screen, select firewall of Defence+, then select disable.

You have  two anti virus set ups Avast and Comando if they are bothe running then they could conflict against each other

I'm probably a bit late to the party here, but I'm a repair technician, so I can advise.

You only ever want to have one antivirus programme installed.  More than one will indeed cause problems.  Likewise, only have one firewall.  More than one anti-spyware programme is fine, though.

Likewise, I've not heard of Malaway.  Do you mean Malwarebytes' Anti Malware?  That's fine, but if it really is called Malaway, I would be somewhat suspicious of it being rogue software.

Always make sure your date and time are correct, too - this can sometimes cause update server authentication issues.

Glad you have sorted it, though!

Thanks a lot for all the advice, sorry about typo error though.   It should have read Malware.  Solved the problem by taking off the Avast.
