Telescope recommendation

Thought I'd ask here in the off chance anyone can recommend a telescope. I know next to nothing about them but have always and fancied one. There's very little light pollution here so get a great view of the stars. From the little reading I've done, the best bet seems to be a Reflecting Telescope. All suggestions welcome for a rank beginner with a budget of under €500.
