What have you sown?

For my rye/vetch mix it will get cut down some time in the spring, either when I want the land to plant something out or when it gets about knee high or if it starts to flower, probably April.

As Chris says... it depends what it is...  a lot of phacalia will die down if it gets cold enough and nnot need digging in at all..  :)

I would dig mustard in early spring..before it flowers.. ;)

Remember to save a bit on the side for seed for next year.. ;)

I do not let the mustard get woody then it becomes difficult to dig in.  I also enjoy eating the young leaves.

tried green manure again this year, not done for a while but very sporadic in the uptake as usual.

Find it best to just scatter it and wait rather than neat rows that takes hours and still very sporadic!

Throw it and run!

Chrispy

If you just 'Throw it and run!' you are just feeding the birds.

With my Rye/Vetch mix, the rye seeds are light in colour, so I can see what I am doing.

I first broadcast the seed, then I go over again filling any gaps.
I then rake this over until I can't see any of the seeds, and then I use a board to go over compacting the soil so the seeds are in contact with the soil.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

Well scatter and water in....... Thats what I meant. :D
