Some of you know my lottie is alongside the canal.

Had a rare whole day down the lottie today,lovely sunshine and so many boats out.Heard this hooter so went to the fence and along came this beauty.

Think it is owned by The Black County Museum and I was told it is the only steam poweed boat on the canal these days.

Very, very few, but I've seen two others.  One just recently in Newbury, and another up at Crofton last year - and that one was one of the oldest wooden-hulled narrow boats still afloat.  Neither were in great shape.  So evocative.

For anyone interested, Fellows, Morton and Clayton lives on as a micro-brewery and pub on the site of the old premises. Part of the site used to be the Canal Museum which closed some years ago. I wonder if those barges came from that museum when it closed.

I don't think I'd get anything done on the plot.. I'd be hanging over the fence waiting and watching all the time.
