My husband was talking to a former workmate, a lady in her early 70s,she's not a keen gardener but asked his advice about buying a hedgetrimmer that she could use.
Frankly we have no idea and we wondered if anyone here has any suggestions ?
Mine would be to get a man in ! ;D
She says she's been told Black and Decker aren't up to much? I don't think it's much of a hedge but we haven't seen it so not really sure.

I'd suggest a decent cordless job. I use a Flymo Sabre Cut; the weight is in the battery, which goes on your waist, and it's quite manageable. It's extendable, and does the top of the hedge with no problems.

thanks Robert I've found it on Amazon and I'll send her the link  :)

I'm coming late into this and p'raps you've got it sorted but my first question would have been = cordless or corded?

I ask because I'm a bit disabled in my arms and any cordless (therefore battery) equipment is an absolute no-no.

If the lady wants/needs a lightweight corded hedgetrimmer I'll go to my shed & see what I bought this season (a replacement for something I've had for 5+yrs). Lightweight and cheap and does the job 8)

That's why I suggested on which has a battery which goes on your waist. It's a big piece of equipment, but it has the advantage that you don't have to climb on anything to cut the hedge top. Look around, find a few other reliable alternatives, and discuss them with her.
