Someone has on their plot a squash type leave growing up a wigwam with broad bean type looking things that are VERY hairy and soft(both hairs and pod) about 5" long and plant is about 5ft high with big squash like leaves.

The judges were not sure what they are either!!!

The Serpente di Sicilia have very soft hairy leaves and the fruit are hairy too. You can tell by the very distinctive pretty white flowers. Mine are growing up a stake and are about 5 ft tall...

2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

What do they taste like? Sounds a fun thing to grow.
