Hi everyone, I have one blueberry bush I grow in a large tub. I got it from Tesco 3 years ago for under a fiver & it has finally given me a crop (about one large full punnet) this year rather than the odd berry.
I would like to buy quite a few more but maybe ones that are already a couple of years old/great croppers so I dont have to wait so long for a decent crop. Can anyone suggest a good supplier/variety etc?
Thanks x Jane

Hiya
Well i usually get my fruit in early spring from the aldi/lidl chains as they are usually good and cheap. But for something special i go to blackmoor fruit nursery . Looks like they are around 7 pound each though. http://www.blackmoor.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=15436

Dont know if anyone has sucessfully taken cuttings that might also be an option (prehaps a quick google)
good luck

ps youll probably need either an ericaceous compost or at least one with peat in to pot.

Thanks so much sunloving, I will check out the link  ;)

Jane, the top of the heap fpr me is Dorset Blueberry Company. When I left Canada in 2000 and spent 9 years in the UK I needed to quickly get my new blueberry bushes I looked all over the UK..I finally bought 10 assorted bushes from them, Great range of varieties, lots of info ect. I could not fault them. I have grown blueberries since the seventies  and was very impressed with them.

Make sure you get diffeernt ones which aids pollination and harvest.

This year I've got a half decent crop but from just the one small bush. Not really a enough to go into the jam making business so can anyone suggest any uses for about 300g of blueberries?
Location: North East Spain - freezing cold winters, boiling hot summers with a bit of fog in between.

Hope you don't mind me asking my own query about blueberries. I bought 3 blueberry bushes a few years ago from a reputable firm, put them in pots with ericacious compost and over the years have gradually increased the size of the pots, but I have been so disappointed with the fruit. I am saying fruit but it is really the lack of any.  I haven't had any to talk about, perhaps about a dozens berries if that, in all the time I have had the plants.  It must be what I am doing or not doing because they are really healthy looking bushes with lots of foilage. Every year they come into leaf but don't produce blossom or fruit. I only got about 6 berries this year but they fell off. I think I am pruning them okay and stopped feeding them a few years ago because all I seemed to get was nice leaves. Would be grateful if anybody had any ideas. Thanks, busy_lizzie

Poland is amazing for blueberries, sold at the side of the road in jam jars. When we and children were tired of eating them on their own (we were there on holiday), we squashed them into plain yoghurt to flavour it.

But normally I like to mix mine with any raspberries/strawberries/red currants etc that are around,  and just eat them with cream!

Big batch of blueberry muffins.. ;D yum!

How often do you prune?..usually I leave mine alone and leave the pruning unless absolutely necessary last few years I haven't touched mine with secateurs.

Thanks so much Jeannine i will definitely check the Dorset company out  ;D

I never prune my blueberry - maybe I should ?
I havent changed its pot either in 3 years - maybe I should ?

I just feed it well with organic liquid seaweed in the spring.

I love to have fresh blueberries mixed into my porridge...yum!
