WTH has happened to Glastonbury?

In the 60's is was a hippy folk festival, long hair and getting stoned listening to Dylan

In the 70's it was a Rock Festival - Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep, Cream, Egg, long hair and getting stoned to Eric Clapton.

Then in the 80's it became a punk/New Romantic festival, Culture Club, Madness, Souixse and the Banshees. Getting legless on Theakstones Old Peculiar.

What on earth is BEYONCE doing there ?
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

Yes but its like turning up at your youth rock pub haunt, and finding Barry Manilow playing there.

It's a performing arts festival.... everythign is there and you might find anyone playing....
It wasn't anything in the 60's, first one was in the 70's, 19070 infact.....Egg are a recent act, formed from the ashes of the COrflour COncept... I went to college with them..... Beyonce was apparently giving a very good performance... as is usual for a mud year I didn't get up to Babylon at all , my lights were shining out into the Spirit of 71 stage arena... lots of folks who played in 1971 (the first Eavis organised one) were appearing there, it's a subjunct of the Glade stage but has the best sound on site courtesy of Tony and the the guys from Funktion1... a prototype PA too expensive to actually sell....

Egg are a recent act, formed from the ashes of the COrflour COncept.

Egg were an English progressive rock band formed in January 1969. The founding members of the group were Dave Stewart who played organ (not to be confused with guitarist David A. Stewart of Eurythmics), Mont Campbell on bass and vocals and drummer Clive Brooks. The band emerged from an earlier quartet formed whilst at City of London School called Uriel with guitarist Steve Hillage.

If Glastonbury only started in the 70's i must have gone to the very first ones. Its all a bit hazy from the days when i played folk and smoked weed...................I remember watching Bowie...............or was that Nostell Priory.....or Reading.....Or Isle of Wight..........

*edit*

bloody hell, ive found a photo of Nostell Priory in 1982, I WAS THERE!!!! See the sound tower on the right distance, we were sat leaning on the  tower leg, on the left hand side front.

Sorry... got Egg confused with THe Egg.... ANyay I had fun listening to Steve Hillage and an assortment of ex-Hawkwind members led by Nik Turner as Space RItual, plus the Magic Band have found another guy to front them who seems to do a decent job and the Charles Hazelwood Orchestra did a live rendition of Tubular Bells which was great and coincided with the last of the rain clearing up on Friday night ....

A few hours at the plot yielded most of a 35 litre bucket full of broad beans.... they're now 6lbs  shelled out in the freezer and I brought home the biggest five beetroots... that's 5 1lb jars of pickles made up....
