When are sweet potato ready

Hi

I have got 2 bags of sweet potato slips doing well certainly better than on my lotty where they just died.

Have no realised i have no idea when they will be ready??

I bought some reduced 'Beauregard' Sweet Potato Slips from the Jamie Oliver Organic Range (Homebase) only a month ago for 20p. They were a little bit battered and on the small side, but after 2 weeks, they've perked-up and got a little bit taller, albeit 4". I've read that it takes upto 4mths for them to crop but in our UK weather, I'm not sure whether that's good enough for them. But hey-ho, I wasn't giving up the chance to try them out for 20p, really! ::) I think the ideal time for planting out was in April/May time, I think, but I know I won't get much of a crop with mine. Has yours spread much?

Leave them growing as long as possible before frost, they need a long growing time and this drizzly, overcast and cool isn't doing them any favours either.

I planted mine in 2 bags 2 weeks apart as i had run out of soil the 1st one is looking quite good plants are bushy other one is a bit behind will leave as long as i can thanks all :)

Irridium you might be ok if you can protect against frosts but what you might need to do is look at these are seed/slip makers for next year??
