hose end exploded

I had a fun afternoon. I put new end on hose, then screwed it on a new 4 way manifold and timer. turned on water. forgot to bleed the line of air. two minutes later. pop!!! The whole new hose end blow off in big spray of water.
After repeating all steps fixing the hose this time bleeding the line of air.  I put a new set soaker hoses on a four way manifold on another line. the same hose end exploded again.
this time went back to home improvement store returned hose end. after complaining then went to more distant store got a new hose end. installed the end. this time it worked . no explosion .
