HI people newbie here --

My rhubarb that was on the plot i have just got seems to be dying - when i first got to it -it was OK but covered with bramble , i cut the d**n stuff away and cleared the area around it ,since then it has gone from bad to worse .

Is it worth saving and if so how -- all advice greatly received

Welcome to the site keejaay.

I would give the rhubarb a good watering and then forget about it.  I am sure it will come up again next year as from my own experience it is very difficult to kill.

I put some in a pot once, forgot all about it and didn't water it.  I came across it a few years later, took it out of its pot and planted it.  It looked almost dead.  It recovered and since then it has really taken off and I get loads from it.  Good luck.

It's probably parched, but the only thing I've found that actually kills the stuff is waterlogging. Clear it, feed it - not with fertiliser, with anything organic you can get hold of - and leave it to recover.

As a fully paid up member of the Rhuarbarb Murderers Society I am not so sure it is that easy.  They do seem to like plenty of water and lots of biomatter.  With help from this forum I have only managed to kill one this year and that was a very miniscule offering from a well known seed company. 

So its water, water, water..... Every time they begin to droop its more water.
