Who Was It

A lorra lorra years ago in foreign fields i was changing the guard of a prison, when walking through the exercise compound a prisoner started to approach myself and the guard. I immediately halted the guard and every man including i stood ridged to attention, not the slightest of movement nor facial expressions.
This man in a slow meticulous manor inspected me then my guard then returned to me looked my straight in the eye said "very good corporal" and walked away.
When the prisoner was a safe distance away i marched the guard on and continued my duties.

Would anyone care to guess who the prisoner was.
