hi,anyone got any info on kohlrabi? i have never grown this before but i have just put a few in to try, do you eat it raw or cooked?i have been told you can eat the leaves also.cheers rick. :-\

I lift them round about golf ball size and grate them in to salads or steam them or stir fry them. Don't know about the leaves but I see no reason why not!

Yes, you can eat the leaves just like any of the brassicas. Steam for several minutes. The roots can be cubed for cooking in the normal way and they stay much firmer than Swedes.

The usual way to serve them in Belgium is grated raw for salads and dressed with either vinaigrette or a slightly mustardy mayonnaise.    I've also done it roast in slices in the oven with olive oil and garlic and finished at teh end with some parmesan cheese.  It was good so this year I'm having a go at growing my own.
