Rat Bait in compost bin

Rats have tunnelled into my compost bin.  I kick bin and they shoot out from their tunnel at the bottom.  My question is:  Husband has put bait on inside bottom of bin just where they are getting in/out.  Should I worry about using this compost next Winter ie as soil conditioner for veg patch?
