I am about to think about filling a new patch for my strawberries and am looking for suitable varieties. Has anyone ever tried everbearing or day neutral ones? They seem to good to be true but what do they taste like?

mmmm..mara de bois..one of the 'everbearing' sort..and my favourite.
You don't get huge crops with those sort that come all in once..they crop rather little and long time fashion that suits me fine. And flavour is more aromatic..bit towards wild/alpine strawberry type taste...if you know what I mean ::)
I grow 3 different sort of these type..but other 2 I've only just planted so as for taste..well that is still to come.
If you make lot of jam then these type ones are not for the 'job' unless you grow lot of them to get the quantity. But just for eating fresh..the best for me ;)
I grow the 'normal' sort too to get the quantity for baking and preserving jobs.
