Rhubarb - The Empire Strikes back

you may recall i managed to get some rhubarb going from seed. Heres where were at now:







They are planted in different mediums and have been fed differently, hence the difference in growth - the best ones (the middle pics) were planted in a 50/50 mix of John Innes seed and JAB multipurpose, with Growmore added and fed with a liquid plant dripper.

Do we think its safe to plant them out now, and cover with debris netting, or do i leave them in the pots till next spring then plant them out ?

I once grew some rhubarb from seed for a bit of a novelty, but lost them when planting out  in summer - the young plants are a lot more fragile than when you divide up crowns. So if I did it again I'd grow them on to a better size in the pots first and plant out in spring next year with a bit of protection.

I divided rhubarb this spring,. one plant out of two survived but now is doing OK, maybe it will be harvestable next year. I would say wait till next spring, do it early though, when it just starts coming back up.

bought 2 champgne  rhubarb plants.  Planted in the same area on plot,1 doing really well, the other seems to be giving up the ghost.
Whats that all about  ???  Have some seed so will give that a go.

I think I'd pot them up separately, and grow them on like that till the autumn at least.
