Never done this before, i always chitted seed then sowed direct, but this year after saving rolls for a year I decided to try it as i thought it would help my back..no thinning out maybe.

Anyway, all 50 rolls planted, couple of seeds to a roll, I have now thinned them down to one.

Question?

At what stage do I plant them out, they are just starting to show true leaves and are about half and inch high.

Thank you

As soon as possible... as the tap root will soon be out the bottom. Remember to trim the loo roll so that none sticks above the soil or it will act as a wick and dry out the compost filling...  :)

i normally just wait until the plant is a decent size, or the root is just showing

I do check them every day

I agree - the root whizzes down to the bottom very quickly, and any check at this point seems to cause distortion. And they are very hardy, so plant out asap.

Jeannine: I have preserved your sweetcorn advice, and will follow it carefully again....best year ever last year, but not enough loo rolls. I am very grateful, and will do lots more this year.

Thank you all so much, I will keep a very very close eye on them then and pop them in at the first chance, after having no snow all winter we got a bit a few days ago which is still there a bit..ain't life funny!!

Artichoke, thank you for the feedback about your corn, you know the wonderful thing about A4A is that each in our own way we educate each otherI find it fabulous to be able to ask a question and get so much good advice and it is great to hear about some given too

Again, thank you all
