It seems this may be sexual discrimination.
The insurance rates are based on risk assessments for different groups based on accident data.  This is not discrimination it is fact.

I think that it is sexual discrimination to expect femailes to have babies.  Men should be expected to take a turn as well.

Does this EU ban mean older drivers will have to pay the same as younger ones? is it age discrimination that they have to pay £thousand plus??? because as Digeroo says that also based on risk assessment.

Eek!!! Well it's only following the same way of thinking!! and about as daft!
Speaking as a "mature" lady driver that is ;) ;) ;D ;D

Since when have insurance companies needed to reason to put up premiums?  ::)

They won't balance it out they'll just put it up for everyone.

Actually, it has been insurance companies who have been pushing this through appeals, to try and avoid it coming in, as they claimed it was not discrimination, but based on risk.  Why should women pay extra, when it is a fact, that men have an average claim size 3X the value of women...  Insurance companies do not want this.

Yes, I wonder when age "discrimination" will next go through the courts...

Finally. insurance will become one premium for all, because one will not be able to discriminate against anything.

So the majority will be subsidising the most risky...  that in my mind IS discrimination

good old EU...

The biggest affect will be for the young teenager just passed their test, but as most of us are closer to our retirement age than to our teens, I think it is how it will affect you pention.

If you have a private pention, the amount you receive depends on the pention fund and how long you are likely to live.

At the moment, men get more per month as on aveage they die earlier, but with this rule, it could mean they get a lot less!

Like to see them bring in a age discrimination rule for pentions :-X
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

I'm more annoyed that being "discriminating" is some how a bad thing all of a sudden... 1984 and Newspeak again?
