Have you tried telephone preference service ?we registered (free) when we were with BT we are now with Talk Talk but think it still works 'tho have had a call from 08451113 who tell us every 4/5 days that we have a grant for insulation ::)it's a scam and we tell them not to call ...but they do  >:(I've checked a "who's calling me ?" website and they're doing it to loads of folk so will check T.P.S.
sorry I was waffling the T.P.S. thing seems to work so give it a go  :)
sanity is overated

Thank you for your quick reply, i shall try that. I am with BT.

TPS only covers uk companies that adhere to the scheme.
It won't stop international calls.

If you have your phone number on your facebook profile or any other public setting, remove it asap.

Somebody on here gave out a number last year and I used it and the cold callers slowed down then when I started getting a few more I rung it again and the calls have stopped we were getting two or three a night and it does piss you off, when you hear the same blokes voice every other night.    >:( >:( >:(
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

To stop cold callers get a really good strong whistle and blow for all your worth. Bye the way I had a problem two years ago I was getting cold silent calls every ten minute from 9.30 in the morning till 7.00 in the night When I asked BT to look into it. About a week later BT contacted me and told me the problem had been solved I asked them who was the cold caller?, BT reply it was them they were cold calling me!. well they apologise and gave me free line rental for six months

By the way there is a Mail preference service too!
We are registerd with both- and have a sent a letter to The Royal Mail to opt out of the letters which the post man has for every household.
(remember the post man who got suspended for telling his households how todo this)??

The Telephone Preference Service certainly worked for me, but it took a few weeks to be fully effective.
In the meanwhile, and evermore for international calls, I recommend saying politely and clearly "I'm not interested, please remove me from your calling list".
If you use a whistle or otherwise annoy the person in the call centre (who BTW is nearly as much a victim of the system as you are) they may not delete you from the list. The autodialler then rings your phone again a few hours or a day later.
