Government cutbacks

As the Government (and Parliament) seem so keen on cutbacks and selling off things like the forests, how about their salaries being reduced by the same percentage (after all, they are not responsible for so much work). It's only fair, they are happy to cutback our services (roads etc.) so why shouldn't they also cut back. If they don't like it they could always leave.
