Has anyone grown Yukon Gold or Ryecroft Purple potatoes? Are they tasty/waxy/floury?
They are on the list at my local potato day and I am wondering whether them. I always like to try a new variety.....but don't want to waste time and space on a tasteless spud ;)

I grew Yukon Gold once... about 12 years ago but I wasn't impressed enough to grow them again...  ???

hmmm, I am going to grow Yukon Gold this year cos they are supposed to be a great flavour, lovely golden skins and perfect for salads (a second early)

can you remember what the weather was like that year, drought or wet, that might have altered the result

It was mid 90's so it was probably too dry...  :-\

I dunno, 97 adn 98 were the two wettest Glastonbury Festival's ever and one of them (98 IIRC) was so cold we had a frost.....

As you say, Calendula, Yukon Gold are supposed to be tasty, which is why I was going to give them a go.
Perhaps we better report back later in the year when we have tried them!

Yes it got worse as the decade went on but the early-mid 90's were relatively hot and dry...  :)
