Welcome aboard Charlie, ;) I was about to ask the same question on seed sowing, although I don't have a greenhouse but have a conservatory and also had veggie seeds for Christmas. 8)

I'll sit on the side with a cupper tea and wait for the advice if that’s ok with you? :D

Happy New Year :D :D :D

i would say my top 3 tips generally for any allotment beginner are

1 - think about what you eat the most - and then grow that.
2 - as you said charlie, do a little bit at a time, its the easiest and you dont become disheartened.
3 - seek out 'kitchen gardener' magazine - invaluable.

i'm afraid i know little about greenhouses so you'll have to keep waiting for other advice!!!

There are a number of things you could get started now. Broadbeans to get a jump start, I sowed a second batch about 3 weeks ago in my greenhouse.

Onions from seed sowed now will give you larger bulbs to harvest later.

You can also start onion/shallot sets in pots now to get them away ahead of time.

I would also make sure you have cleaned out the greenhouse very well before you start, a good wash down with Jeys Fluid is important to remove some of the pest.disease that can build up in there.

Then get yourself ready for the busy sowing season that starts in Feb.

Welcome Charlie

I am a fairly new allotment holder too, got mine at the end of October and dug madly most weekends in November.

I posted a few photos on this thread: http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/yabbse/index.php/topic,5642.0.html

I'd reccomend the 'bit at a time' method too. My site was uncultivated for around 4 years and is heavy clay, very compacted in some places.
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.
