I know many members are Canadian or have connections there so this is why I am asking this question here.

On New Year's Eve five families in our village (in Brittany - a mix of French and English) are hosting a safari night.  Basically we have all been allocated a country and have to put on the dress, decorations, food and drink.  The food and drink needs only to a taster; but having searched on the internet there seems to be no national food or drink for Canada.

Anyone out there in A4A land that can help?

...as for the dress, my HB will wear his work clothes aka a lumberjack

WOW this is the point to be inventive.

If there is nothing noted as 'Canadian' INVENT

I would point out that there are the indigionous Indians who will have had foods such as what we in the UK call sweet corn. Perhaps they ate Buffalo steaks etc Maybe a fish dish?

Then there are the wonderful things imported from the motherlands and adapted to local produce.

Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Maple Syrup must creep into a recipe somewhere

You could just spend the night telling everyone that you're not American. Again & again & again, even if they don't care to begin with.

qahtan
