  I missed the 1st episode, so i have the book on my Christmas list i have heard it is very good. ;D

not Boyd's best by any means (read almost everything he's written) but translated into tv ok thanks mainly to Broadbent and Macfayden in my not so humble opinion  :) enjoyed it much more than the book
