Koomara are a New Zealand variety of sweet potato. The ones I saw whilst there earlier this year were purple when uncooked.

I have been onto various NZ websites which say how to grow them and tried in my greenhouse but didn't get a single thing.

Any tips for growing in the U.K?

Where did you get them from? As slips or tubers?  :-\

Outside of the warmest UK areas you may well have to wait for global warming to become much worse before sweet potatoes will really be wonderful.  The climate is just a bit colder than in New Zealands.  It is often suggested to grow them through black plastic to give the roots extra warmth.

According to the web, Sainsbury had genuine NZ imported Kumera sweet potatoes.
