hi all,
Have just pulled up a parsnip (couldn't wait for the first frost!) and its got canker ::) Is it okay to cut off the affected parts and eat the rest?

Mine almost always have some canker, I just cut the top off and peel the affected parts away

MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Totally agree, even with the canker resistant brands you often get the markings.  Just chop it out - home grown are 4 x more tasty than shop bought.

Daft isn't it, but I'd avoid cankered 'snips if I was buying them, but will happily chop up a manky looking home grown.

Our (My) household motto is "I've grown it, you eat it"
