Potatoes in the sunlight - this is a good thing?

I've noticed that some plot holders (that I never see!) on my allotment site have started harvesting their potatoes - and leaving them laid out in the sun for a day or two.

Won't they go green? Or is this just to dry them out prior to storage, and being left out in the daylight this time of year is no big deal?

A day or two won't do any harm and hardens p the skin for storage no end, also dries out the dirt, extends stoprage time a lot.... Not long enough for the potato to go green... reminds me I need to grade my spud harvest this weekend and get it packed away properly.... it came out at the weekend, spent Monday scattered on my patio and paths and is now in sacks but I want to get the damaged and green and tiddly out of there ASAP... tiddlers that are OK go into soup....
