'Black' toms are often brownish so don't despair. Blight appears as brown spots followed by general decay.

I very much hope you are right but blight on fruit looks like blight on fruit.

Small patches of blight have appeared on my neighbour's toms this weekend here in Notts. Mine were still OK last time I checked with crossed fingers and baited breath. However it has been raining nearly constantly for the last 3 days so I fear the worst (sob). They are just starting to turn red too :(

The Black Krim we grew turned a brownish color when ripe- pick it when it begins to feel soft, don't go looking for a red color. They are a delicious tom. Too bad mine seem to get so many cracks on top which is a waste.

Finally managed to get some blight here - knew it had to happen.  Looked like classic early blight (why's it so late?) on 100s and 1000s in a pot.  I've put it in the landfill, hopefully it won't escape.  The others look OK, for now....

I checked my potatoes today - all look fine. Dont know whether I should have cut them all down as I am now going away for a week (I would hate to come back to brown smelly mush). Just had another blight warning but it does say no incidences reported

If you don't have blight symptoms, don't panic.
