Hi Jeannine do you think maybe John just had a bit of a day when he was confused.
I do remember my step Dad a keen rose grower carefully pruning off the new buds instead of the deadheads. He was then in the early stages of dementia and yet other days he could tend his roses normally. John obviously remembered the peas so maybe he thought he was doing the right thing bless him.
I'm sure youve forgiven him by now anyway. Love to you both xxxx

No worries, I actually didn't get angry , it is isn't something I do very often, and no I didn't laugh either.

I remember the time Ian "weeded" a row of Radish. trouble was they were sown between the parsnips as a catch crop and also to mark the row till the parsnips germinated, so all the seedlin parsnips had gone. I'm afraid he took offence of my annoyance and got out of a lot of weeding after

Oh you really opened a can of worms with this thread didn't you. I've got a feeling that dredging some of these stories back up could result in a divorce or two.  ;D

I bet john has fantastic memories of all that great food you have been cooking for him over the years.

George Washington Snr - Well you'll never guess what my son did when I sent him down to the allotment to pick cherries.

You could of course reverse this - and set up a forum or a thread for our OH's friends and family for them to moan about us lot for our nutty antics. Can just imagine " well I went to help out today and guess what got a rollicking for weeding, well how was I to know" And "oh no not another meal with courgettes" :P  :D  ::)

OH is strictly banned from the garden unless needed to move heavy objects, and only then under strict supervision! Luckily for me he's not much interested in gardening of any variety. The trouble is they don't realise that you don't treat beans the same way you do peas.

This year I only have the slugs to blame for the lack of a decent crop. Have just discovered they've even started on the shallots. Little blighters.  >:(

And yes, we have the 'not more <insert veg here>' conversations as well. He did relent last summer when I pointed out how little we'd gone to the supermarket.  ::)

No matter how much they drive us potty, I certainly wouldn't be without my OH which I guess is what marriage is all about.
