It is possible...but how large is your large?...even in half barrels I would expect them out grow their space in 3 yrs or so...but have a go...you might do well!! ;)

I'm sure they'd grow IF you kept them watered. Here pots dry out too quickly- it would be a big bother.
But unless you had a huge number of pots you wouldn't get many berries.
Is this a temporary measure for you? Or are you just trying berries for the fun of it or to
see how a new variety tastes?
What about in winter? Might the roots get too cold being above ground? I don't know the answer to that one.
Or would you heel them in?

When I renewed some raspberries canes a couple of years ago, I had one plant over. I planted this one in a 10 litre polypot and it has gone on to produce a good plant and fruit well. I think it would have been better again in a larger tub as it must have exshausted the compost it is in, but I've finally found a spot for it to be planted out in this autumn. I think if you space them well enough apart and your container is large enough they could do well. They will need regular watering and feeding, also the soil/compost may need to be replaced in time.
