Someone has told OH that we need 60 or 90 days (he can't remember which) constant sunshine in the UK to grow sweetcorn. I said utter tosh. Who is right please?

Sweetcorn, or dried corn is not grown commercially in the country, except a little down south, the season is too short for a reliable crop.

If you see it grown, this will be harvested before it is ripe, and the whole plant is used to feed animals.

For us home growers, where we can start indoors, or it is not a disaster if the crop is a bit reduced because the soil was not warm enough, then the season is plenty long enough.

I don't know how many days of sunshine we do need, looking at when I sowed mine and when I started eating it, and how many days of sunshine we have had this year, 90 days does not seem unreasonable.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!
