This is our first ever cucumber a Marketmore. Must admit I am finding it really hard to pollenate them. The male flower doesnt seem to want to give up its pollen when I stroke it with a tiny brush as i was told to do. It probably doesnt help that the tomato house is a bit crowed 3 marketmores and 3 roma tomatoes. Have finially noticed that now there are a lot of hornets and butterflys buzzing about them.

You'd probably do better growing Marketmore outdoors, where you can rely on the local insects to do the job.

I thought that after i put them in the tomato houses :( I do leave the houses open all day and night now. I did think on moving one or two plants outside but do you think its a bit late to disturb them?  Thanks for your reply Robert its nice to know there is help out there for complete newby's like me.

There's plenty of help Ragdoll lady, just ask. Hope you enjoy your first cucumber. It's so satisfying picking & eating something you've grown yourself.

Yes you are right there Grannyjanny it does put a huge smile on your face when you pick something you have grown out of the ground. It tastes better too :)
