Sweet Peppers.

Coming along lovely in the greenhouse, fruit just appearing. Is it ok to take lower leaves off like we do with Tomatoes?

I tidy up a bit round the bottom - doesn't seem to do any harm.
How many fruits are you going to leave on each plant? - always tricky to take off healthy little peppers!

I wasn't aware that you needed to remove young peppers.

I have two (standard) plants growing in the greenhouse. These do not appear to have many peppers forming (6-7 very close to each other) and appear to have stopped growing at about 15"

I have two dwarf peppers outside which are very bushy and appear to have lots of fruit on them and are as high as the greenhouse plants!

I would appreciate some advice on how many peppers I should allow to grow on the greenhouse plants and also on the dwarf outside ones.

Also some suggestions as to why the greenhouse plants are so stunted.

I do not see the point of restricting the number of peppers. Mine just continue producing till the frosts. Gypsy in the greenhouse is now 1 m high and still producing.
Bluecar, are you feeding your greenhouse ones? They could be a shorter type of pepper.

I have never taken any peppers off my plants, as long as you pick when ripe, or green if you prefer them that way they will keep producing. I can't eat them green so leave them longer than most folks but ut makes no difference.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the idea is you get earlier bigger peppers if you limit the amount the plant is trying to grow. No, I don't take any off either, but I've learned that it works for squashes. I try to get 6 or 8 big butternuts off each plant (which store better) rather than 12 or15 midgets.
