My Colossal peas started out with large pods but no peas but left to get on with it, the peas arrived. I didnt get that many - pidgeons I think, sat on the peas and pulled them down - I gave up. This is the third year that I think next year will be the year for peas!

Hang old CD's or something similar form the supports, so they dangle in the breeze. The vital thing is to move them now and then so the birds don't get too used to them.

:) Many, many thanks for all your replies, as a newbie  to gardening I really do appreciate your help.

I've taken off the pods that look full (but are empty) and let the new pods grow,
Going to water them twice a day like my Dad did with his, see what that brings.
Next year I'll put them in the ground rather than compost.

Once again many thanks for your help,
Gertie.   :)
