I am very new on this forum and have a very new, small back garden plot 18'x 12'

Sweet Peas, Runner Beans, Broad Beans and Peas doing well. But my very few Brussels not so good there is a very small Caterpillar trespassing on one I saw late last night is there a cheap way of dealing with any nasty bugs  on the attack to my plants. ???

The Sprouts need netting to fully cover them (a type with a fine mesh) this is to stop butterflies laying eggs on the underside of the leaves. Pull off the caterpillars and check for eggs on all of the leaves, if there are some then squash them all. Then net.

As muddylou says, get our greens covered in net. Cabbage white butterflies will lay their eggs on the underside of brassica leaves. You will find clutches of yellow eggs on the leaves, squash these. Make sure you keep a gap between your net and your plants. If the net mesh holes are large enough the butterflies will poke their bodys through. Try to use a fine mesh or fleece.
