Courgettes in bins

My courgettes are truly enjoying growing in compost bins..even if they get baked ::)..those black bins get quite hot to touch..I thought we get another wet one this summer so I was playing safe by giving them luxury penthouse accommodation with under floor heating..more like sauna.. ::)

I want to put squash in our wooden compost bins but OH says no as it will take goodness from compost. He's seen on the telly to keep compost covered someone suggested covering compost with an empty compost bag. What does he know ;) (OH not person on here ;D ;D ;D)

Most of the stuff in those bins are just wood shavings from chickens shed..I made a planting pocket in the middle and put some multipurpose in..I'm actually suprised how they are enjoying themselves ...and if they make shavings to rot quicker..well even better.. ;D  Tell OH...what good does it to keep it in bin...get the top off and spend it... ;) same rule apply when going shopping in garden centers... ;D

He emptied the compost bin last week & gave it a good mix then we added hemcore + chicken & guinea pig poo & 2 bags of moss & clover from a neighbours "lawn". That should get it going ;). It's just waiting for something to snuggle down into it. Ahhh.
