Has anyone grown these from seed and do you know anywhere I can buy the seeds?   Is it too late to plant them for this year.
Are there different strains?
I have googled and searched on-line.   No results.
I would be grateful for any information.

Grow japs here every year, sow direct about end August/early Sept, water well.
If you google   japanese onion seed    you get lots of hits.

Thanks for replies.  Still working on them.
So Senshyu are J/O.  I have found those.
Suttons don't do them anymore.

I am growing Japanese Bunching Onions (Ishikura, a type of spring onion), they certainly beat White Lisbon. I get the seed from http://www.realseeds.co.uk

Tomatoada,

I have a full packet plus half a packet of Suttons Senshyu but it says to sow by 2008. If you want to have a try with them I can put them  all in the mail for , it says sow August/September.

Germination would be poor  but there is more than 350 seeds so you might get enough.

When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.

Just a thought...I've noticed when looking through different companies seeds..that there is not many Jap. onions available..as seed..you are right..!
What if you would get few sets..let them flower next spring/summer..and as there is no many onions flowering same time anyway..you should get clean to type seed.. ;)..just something to do if nothing else.. ::)
