Euphorbia - help please

I recently took over an allotment (hurray!!) which has this huge 5 foot wide 4 foot tall  plant right in the middle. I've now researched and found out it's an euphoria. Having gathered information on the plant I now certainly want to get rid of it. My question being how best and safest to go about it??? Thanks. Tina
