I am building some deep beds   and i have a load of horse manure come but it is not rotted would it be better to leave it a few months to rot or to dig it in straight away if i double dig the beds and put the manure low down?, i have been told if it is to fresh it may burn the roots,

Hi Allen

Best to let it rot right down, If you can make a 'hot' heap even better, I've often found that fresh horse manure has plenty grass seed in it just waiting to germinate.

Merry Christmas  :D

I usually leave mine on the top over winter ( 4 ton of it  :o ) the worms pull some of it down into the soil, then what's left i dig in spring first by hand then rotovator.

Some of the lads and lasses on the site make a hot box for the pumpkins and marrows but as yet have not tried it ::).
