Picking seed potatoes

I'm going to the potato day this weekend and need some advice on choosing seed potatoes. I've already picked what varieties I want to grow, but which individual tubers do I buy? Does size matter? How about numbers of eyes? Anything else I should look for?

The usual advice is to pick hens egg size tubers. These should have a half a dozen or so eyes.

If you are buying by the tuber and want lots of lovely little new potatoes then a larger first early tuber with lots of eyes are the ones to go for - at the other end of the scale if you want bakers than a small number of eyes is good

PS If you're going to a Potato Day, find the expert that they have there and ask - they like nothing more than to pass on their huge knowledge -I think Cheltenham's expert is Andrew - he grows hundreds of varieties, all of them to a very high standard, and he's a very very nice man (as they say in the adverts)
