propagating aqualeigia

Last autumn I rescued some rose bushes from a bin and they have taken really well and look very healthy. Right in the middle of one has grown a beautiful deep purple aqualeiga which must have come in with the roots on the rose.  It is too entangled in the roots to move so I will let it grow where it is; but I would like to propagate it. I have been told that seeds wont come true and it will revert to pink.  So what should I do. Take a cutting of some description?

Divide it after it has finished flowering!

Aquilegia are very promiscuous hence the many hybrids that are around!

Although it is true they won't come true to the parent colour it doesn't necessarily mean they will all be pink.

Go for it save the seed and its more than likely you will get many colours, in fact I won't mind betting the plant you have is from a self set seed!

thanks for the reply Tee Gee I will definately keep the seed but dont think i will be able to divide parent as its roots are enatangled with the rose.  I seem to have quite a lot of aqualiegas popping up in odd places this year. good job i like them.  :D
