I planted just one kestrel on the right day for the challenge in a black sack. That was 10 and half weeks ago. It started off in the conservatory, but once it had a good few leaves I put it outside in our sheltered back garden.  I've been adding more compost periodically as the leaves have grown. It now has a good head of stems and leaves, which look very healthy. At what point do I stop adding compost and just let the leaves be?  And when can I expect to see flower buds?
This is my first attempt at potatoes.  We've put  quite a few more in at the lottie, but there's no sign of them yet.

When they are ready for it.... ::)I think it is a bit early yet...as you have been topping the "soil"level up they still have room to spread their roots so soon they are starting to "feel" restriction coming up and reproduction kicks in... ;)
Mine are growing in 15 litre buckets the buckets are full now and the heads are about foot long..and I have now left them to be..other than watering..they have been outside a nearly a week so fingers grossed..come end of May..I'm going to tip first bucket over and see if there is anything to feed  the big mouth of mine ;D
Did you take note what variety you potato is as in cataloques they give aprox cropping time for it?

The Swift that I put in is about to flower and I can see the buds coming though on the Rocket. They both went into their pots on the 17th of March and are noted speed merchants amongst the first earlies. Kestrel is a second early, so it'll be 3-4 weeks later than the first earlies, so I would guess you've a while to go yet...
