My seed package (Kings) says to plant when 15cm tall and to the same spacing. This seems much closer than the books say. I would be grateful for your advice.

OK if you're planting them out to grow on a bit before you move them to final locations.

blue not all cabbages grow to same size. the spacing seem right considering type cabbage at issue.

I would have thought that they needed at least the diameter of the finished cabbage plus a bit more. 15 cm seems very small for a cabbage, perhaps you thin them out later.

Are you sure that you have read the packet correctly, is the 'same' spacing perhaps refering to the 45 cm for the module grown plants?

Kings instructions says....15 cm apart=nursery bed,  45cm apart=when transplanted in final position... ;D ;)

I'd have though 12-18 inches depending on whether you can get some "stagger" in the row... my Hispi's are at that and they're a similar size to Spitfire aren't they? (Spitfire's a small pointy cabbage isn't it?)

Thanks folks.

Digeroo, I had misread the instructions and focused on the final sentence. As Goodlife states 45cm is the final spacing. It just goes to show how invaluable this site is as I would have probably ended up with 15cm spacing - lots of plants, but little in the way of final crop!
