runner beans and peas

hi can anybody tell if i can leave my runners in the same please every year ,if so can i do the same with my peas many thanks  jj

I know many that do..and their crops are beautiful..but it does mean you have to add loads and loads of compost each year...Chap next door have had permanent runner bean bed for years now..and he emptys his compost bins (large pallet kind)end of the year and gives good liming for the winter..I think every few years he also shifts some the soil away too...

Peas aren't such heavy feeders as runners, and while it's not traditional, I can't see why they shouldn't be left in the same place. Rotating them is mainly for the benefit of other plants, which gain from the nitrogen they fix in the soil.

I always grow my peas in a different spot but thats only because of the other crop rotation.

My runner beans are planted in the same place year after year.

Fork took the words out of my mouth, I dug my trench in Dec for the runners and back filled with kitchen waste.   ;D ;D ;D
