Does anyone have any handy tips for getting plants to recover from frost?

Like an idiot, I fell asleep last night and forgot to take several trays of plants back into the greenhouse leaving them out in the frost....it's hit half a dozen or so tomato plants really hard.

Everything else seems to be fine, just them.

Douse them with water to melt them gently BEFORE the sun gets on to them. No frost on my site, but some beans I took down and put in the cold frame the other day were looking extremely sorry for themselves today. I've given them extra insulation, and the growing points look OK, so hopefully they'll recover.

I ended up putting them in the greenhouse in the shade, so they were warming up but not baking. they're now under fleece for the night (which is how i've been keeping them), and although they don't look brilliant, they were still mostly standing up by themselves.

time will tell, hopefully they'll pick up. totally my fault.

thanks for the advice anyway. Probably better that I remember to finish off my day before I fall asleep.

You have very likely lost them but if they recover they will produce fresh leaves themselves.

If you have some survivors then you can take cuttings from the side shoots to make up for the loss later. Cutting catch up quite quickly to the mother plant in my experience.
